Well, it may not be the most popular opinion, because I know that Claudia and Johnny are well-liked, but I just hate that the idiots in charge couldn't make a storyline for the freaking Scorpios or Quartermaines, and here's another mob family.
I might be alone in this but with rumors of another Zacchara coming on the canvas, I just wanted to see what others thought.
No I'm with you....sure bring in fresh non-related blood to the canvas all for that....can it just once happen without the mob? Let's bring in total newbies that initially only connect with Sonny and Jason! Woo! that story's NEVER EVER been done before. You know besides the Alcazars...the Ruiz family.......oh wait....
I would much rather watch a storyline involving the Quartermaine or Scorpio-Jones families. I know the Zaccharas are liked, but I couldn't care less if Johnny, Claudia, or their inappropriate chemistry fell off the face of Port Charles. They just highlight everything that is wrong with this show. Newbies dominating screentime over invested, history rich characters the audience has loved for years, the mob as central to all happenings on a show that is called General HOSPITAL, and characters that are responsible for reprehensible acts (even if it was Michael) getting a free pass because they didn't mean to and they can pass the blame elsewhere.
Fact is, Johnny and Claudia are responsible for Michael's shooting. Just because Devlin pulled the trigger doesn't mean they aren't to blame. They conspired to kill Sonny and hired Devlin to do it. They set in motion the events that led to Michael's coma how much Guza whitewashes it.
Eww! Johnny and Claudia are just too couple-y for my taste. She acts like he's her boyfriend or something.
I just remembered how irked I was when the Cassadines re-entered the picture some years ago...OK many years ago, with Stephen Nichols as Stefan and Tyler Christopher as Nikolas. I thought the writers were making EVERYTHING about them. And they were. But eventually they kind of blended in with the canvas. In the right hands, this sort of thing can work.
I cannot, however, see the same thing happening with the Zaccharas. I have a feeling they will meet the same fate as the Alcazar family, which is rather unfortunate. But they'll probably bring back one of them as the new text message killer or something.
Brandon Barash is a very handsome boy, but I would not miss his character in the sligh-*test*-('"). I agree about the totally inappropriate chemistry he has with Sarah. Actually Johnny and his sister Claudia have more heat between them than Johnny and his girlfriend Lulu! But the whole idea of bringing Sarah Brown back as Claudia, not Carly, is kind of insane on it's own, in my opinion. I think the Zacharras was just another one of Guza's giant misses.
Uh, not well liked by me.
Johnny is cute, but otherwise has made no impression on me. As others have noted, his chemistry with Claudia is icky.
And the fact that they brough back Sarah Brown and immediately put her back in Sonny and Jason's orbit makes no sense at all.
I don't mind the characters, it's what they represent that bothers me, more mob, and that is not good for the show or my high blood pressure.
Just say no to "really bad" mob characters to make Sonny and Jason look like "not so bad" "really kinda good" mob characters. If they want them to be "good" characters then they should have them do good things. I personally even kind of liked them both at some point a long time ago. Remember when they did do some good things? They even made a point of it once that Sonny didn't use violence in his mob. Now he has an enforcer...
Sarah Brown was much too Carly to ever play another character on this show. I thought that when I first heard the idea but I gave it a chance (cause I really liked SB back in the day). Sorry, it's just too weird. Maybe if she NEVER had anything to do with any of the people from her stories before? No, that probably wouldn't work either. Johnny is okay but nothing to make a whole family about...
The bottom line is no, we don't need them.
