We support the writers, but we're anxious for the strike to end. Your thoughts? When the non-union writers start, will we even notice? On some shows, will we embrace them with open arms?
AdamPascalFan- 01-07-2008
If I thought for one second scabs would be able to write stories that Guza would not have put his big fat swarmy handprint all over? All for it!

^^^ I agree with Beth. I support the strike, but I think several soaps are in need of some fresh ideas and new writers could do that. Maybe when the strike is over, the writers will improve their writing now that they've had a little bit of a break. Then again, maybe I'm having a delusional moment.
AdamPascalFan- 01-07-2008
I love delusional moments...that's why I continue to hope ABC soaps can improve! But I have to agree that what several need are total overalls period.....personally I am all for shooting the ratings up on scab-written episodes to justify getting rid of the deadweights who sunk the shows in the first place.

I support the writers, but I was actually looking forward to scabs for the soaps. I had this ridiculous hope that new, inexperienced writers would breathe new life into the genre. And then I found out that Dena Higley is scabbing for Days. Now the strike can't end soon enough.
UTurnVern- 01-07-2008
Higley scabbing for Days should be great as long as you're fond of one-dimensional psychotic plastic "doctors"... oh. Yeah, you're screwed.
I support the writers and can only believe the ABC scab writers will have to improve on the shite that's been ladled out like gravy all over AMC, OLTL and GH.
filegirl- 01-08-2008
I don't think that ABC will fire those in charge during the strike, so for that reason alone, I want it to end. Guza needs to be gone.
Toria- 01-08-2008
Isn't/Hasn't Lynn Marie Latham basically been chucked from Y&R during the strike so have hope!
I'm sure I heard a rumour that it was either Frons or Guza (I can't remember) that was for the high jump over the poor performance of ABC Daytime or GH, and it was only the metrocourt hostage crisis that gained a stay of execution for him. Maybe with ABC Daytime/GH's poor performance the writer's strike will induce ABC to get rid of Frons and/or Guza.
I support the writers strike but can't understand the writer pass around in daytime, if they can't do the job then they shouldn't be employed strike or no strike.
smirks- 01-08-2008
Actually, as much as I support the hard-working writers for fighting for their dues against the evil multinational media conglomerates, I somewhat fear that the writers' strike may in fact prevent some much needed regime changes on soaps for fear of both legal dilemmas and bad publicity. Fired writers could claim that they were fired for exercising their right to strike, and things could get very ugly. I'm afraid that this may cause a stay of execution for some truly visionless head writers.
AdamPascalFan- 01-10-2008
I fear you are correct smirks...even if certain regimes are posting record low ratings and are getting negative press left and right....nothing will be done because of fear of what the union will do.
Although i'm convinced Guza thinks he really is Jason Morgan so ABC may be frightened he may just show up and blink them all to death....
Daytime Diva- 01-12-2008
So, I read today that the scab head writer for GH is Garin Wolf, one of the associate head writers who went financial core during the strike. I'm impressed with the balance he's been able to achieve for the past couple of days. Any idea if he'll be allowed to continue writing on the show when the strike ends? I have no idea what the consequences are for someone who goes fi-core.
AdamPascalFan- 01-14-2008
When the strike started I found several blogs that were written by strike captains and they actually discusses soaps and scabs....I think the rumor going around the writers picket line is that the scabs are being promised continued employment after the strike ends......as for union consequences.....I'm not sure but I would think there would have to be some......in fact I think the other part of the rumor when the strike started was that the soap scab writers would be using pen names so as to not loose their status in the guild....now apparently Garin has blown that theory to heck...but that was the rumor.
lascuba- 01-14-2008
From what I understand, going fi-core means that the scabs will still be represented by the union and get benefits, but they can never be involved in the union politics--no voting, no holding office, etc.
AdamPascalFan- 01-14-2008
I was wondering what the heck fi-core meant......
then again if I was in an organization that represented Guza...i wouldn't want to hold office or vote in politics either......

Wow, I have been watching UTube all day; from Sonny and Carly's first meeting all the way through the miscarriage, and beyond. I am actually watching Utube instead of watching televised GH in its time frame. I hope Guza never ever ever(I need more evers) ever ever ever comes back. He could just stay lost out there in la la land. He has just pulled this show down..down..doown.
