Trying my hand at starting a new topic!

Ok, on the one hand, I am thrilled with the whole Scrubs baby. I even like the whole angst aspect of Robin keeping it a secret for now. (If they drag that out for too much longer its going to annoy me, and not be in character for Robin, but I like some soapy drama).

But, OH DEAR GOD are the writers pissing me off with their fast and loose playing with the facts of HIV!!! Patrick has ONE negative HIV -*test*-('") after his exposure, and he is in the clear? (Stone had one negative HIV -*test*-('"), right?)Doesn't Leyla need to know about what happened? And, considering that Patrick has been sleeping with Leyla in the past (at least in NS land), doesn't Patrick owe Robin the information that the condom broke, so SHE can be aware of what diseases she might have picked up via Leyla, the pathetic ho bag? (Sorry, its a knee jerk reaction. I think that might have to be her name from now on. I mean, did she at least SHOWER before going back to finish her beer?)

I understand that the chances of Patrick contracting HIV are small, however, the chances of Robin becoming pregnant were small too! I am loosing my love for the scabs, fast.

I think I may have mentioned my disgust before but I just don't understand why they can't get something right on this show. Honestly, everyone who has known the character of Robin throughout her life on this show can sympathize with her wanting some stable family and someone to love. I just don't see what is accomplished in making Patrick look like the biggest horse's ass in order to give the viewer what they obviously want. We just went through a year and half of paternity secret with Liz and Jason, can't they come up with something better? Isn't the pressure of having a baby when you are HIV positive enough drama without the dreaded "secret?"

I need to watch today's episode to be sure, but I am oddly optimistic about this storyline. If, however, they don't have an explanation for Patrick having sex with Leyla without telling her about his HIV exposure, I am going to be seriously filled with Soap Opera Rage.

But i am also torn...i sympathize with Robin's wishes but I hate baby rabies....I understand Patrick's concerns but seriously a-holey sex with someone without being upfront about it really at anytime is just...Soap Opera Rage inducing....

On the other hand I fully realize this is probably one of the stories that was outlined by Guza before the strike so by definition it was going to suck..he was only writing it for attention and emmy notice anyways. Then again I also know I am going to rationalize anything to keep my scabs love in tact.

I'm just a-wash in torn

While I have no doubt about the ability of Jason and Kim to seriously rock any sort of slightly good material thrown their way (today being a good example) it just frustrates me that GH has seemingly stumbled so badly right out of the gate. I mean, they could have easily had Patrick and Leyla look like they were in a compromising position with Robin witnessing this, with Patrick deciding NOT to sleep with Leyla, and still could have gotten the same result. Without Patrick looking like a total jerk. Again.

I sometimes think that when Guza saw how totally dreamy and gorgeous and perfect Patrick was during the Metro Court storyline, he got scared that he was taking attention off of Jason Morgan and conceived the Horror That Was Night Shift. And yet, Patrick pulled off hotly angsty today better than Jason ever could, so HA! Bob Guza! HA!

I'm happy with so very little, its just sad.

You know that's not a bad theory filgirl.....I have a similar one about the attempted AJ-ing of Lucky...that Greg threatened Guza's beloved Steve and then.....well we all know what happened then....

and Jason T and Greg ARE friends.....it's not that far out there.....

Seriously, filegirl and Adam Pascal-paranoid, party of 3. I've been asking for MONTHS now whose wife Jason T. slept with, whose puppy he ran over, etc. I mean, it's like they've decided to see how much of a DICK they can write Patrick as-like it's a con-*test*-('") as to which writer can fuck him up worse, you know? I mean, he didn't even MENTION it to Leyla?! HEH?! Hell, they didn't even backtrack and have him tell Leo that he told Leyla?! WHAT. THE. FUCK.?!

I think I am one of the few Patrick and Robin fans out there who is glad this baby was conceived via oops pregnancy. Now there is at least the gaurantee that there will be no tacky sperm switching. I'm also ok with Robin keeping the paternity secret from Patrick for the time being. It's soapy goodness, he doesn't want to be a father, and he's been acting like a tool lately. Of course I want her to fess up sooner rather than later, but I'm ok with waiting it out.

What I'm not ok with is Patrick telling neither Robin nor Leyla about the broken condom. This on top of him sleeping with that desperate whore during what has to be the worst "revenge scheme" ever has me gagging. But I continue to think that Jason Thompson is totally dreamy so I am more forgiving that I would be otherwise.

I am not happy, but I'll stick it out for now.

Ok, am I a HORRIBLE hypocrite, that even though I have serious reservations about how this story has been told so far, I am fangirl squeeing over all the Scrubs promos and articles I'm seeing these days?

Not hypocritical at all....I am a Lucky/Liz fan all the way and even if the press is bad and horrid, I still squee like the dedicated fangirl I am......

And I agree w/you Liz-on all counts, especially the "acting like a tool lately" thing.

Despite all of the possible wonkiness with the handling of this storyline, I have 2 big fat things to be happy about.

1. We've gotten to see shirtless Patrick TWICE in the last week!

2. The scab writers are writing this way better than Guza would have (already). I am so happy Scrubs is getting more airtime!

Well of course they have! If Guza was soley in charge of it...Robin would discussing this completley with Sonny and Jason...not that I don't know she has history with them and Sonny was close to Stone yadda yadda yadda...but the whole focus of the story would be as such..."So Robin's pregnant and has HIV....yeah Patrick's the dad...but look at how great Sonny and Jason are for supporting her! And then there's this one chick who's kinda hanging around Patrick...but don't worry Sonny and Jason will support Robin.....and there will be health issues and stuff...and like cause everyone knows doctors, nurses and cops make next to nothing....Sonny and Jason will totally pay for everything because they are just so awesome to support Robin...and CArly will have some really awesome things to say to Robin but Jason and Sonny will support Robin and that will cause problems for Sonny, Jason and Carly...and we will -*test*-('") the bonds of their friendship like we've never -*test*-('")ed them before...oh yeah some other stuff will happen between Robin and PAtrick and then the baby will come and that will be that...but the real story is how this affects Sonny, Jason and Carly."

So can laugh if you want to...but some of you know I am DARN close to the truth on that one......

I have one more question (technically several): Didn't they do the defective condom story last year? (remember when the Q's were grooming Dillon to go into the corporate world). And wasn't there a recall or something? And wouldn't they have been taken off the market? And if not, why the hell would Patrick buy ELQ condoms (hah!) if he already knew they were bad?

You know this question was posed last year by Lucky and Liz fans when we were trying to figure out how Jason who hadn't had sex since mid-April ended up with a condom from the same batch that Dillon had(did he stop and buy new ones on his way back from seeing Sam/Ric along with the alcohol?).......or why everyone was using the same brand.....

I think the only answer we could come up with was apparently Port Charles is like the coal mining towns of the 1940s/1950s and can only buy things from the ELQ company store.......
