Recent Y&R Episodes

I feel compelled to trash Sharon today, even though over all I really like her as a character.

First of all, can we just start with the outfit?!?! I know that "high-waisted" is back "in" so to speak, but was it just me or did it look like her breasts were resting on her waist?!?! The blouse was too busy for her with that big bow. And did it have ruffles? I seem to recall ruffles but it could also have just been that the bow was so long that it looked like ruffles. Whatever. The blouse was simply hideous!

Now let's get to her hair. I know that I've seen you trash her hair in your column before, but today was much, much worse than usual, IMO. What in GOD's name was up with the flippiness of it?!?!

And now that I think about it, no one, with the exception of Heather, had hair that looked good today. Lauren's was in some crazy side ponytail thingie and Gloria's looked unusually extreme too. Of course, Amber's is always gross so there is no change there.

Did the hair department strike today in solidarity with the writers?

But I digress, let us get back to Sharon. How annoying is it that she knows what Brad is about and yet puts herself in these situations with him every time they are together?!?! I wanted to wipe that smarmy grin off his stupid face (btw, have you ever noticed how much Don Diamont's mouth looks like Christian Bale's mouth? His best feature, I think). I hope Jack does that for him tomorrow.

I love the fact that not only is TGVN's office a revolving door for anybody at Newman who wants to use it, now it's a place for Nick and Phyllis to do the nasty. Yuck. Shouldn't they be using their OWN offices for that?

Amen, Amen, Amen!!!! Cane finally figured out that Marina is Amber. It's about damn time.

The scene where Jana came in and was all "who is this, Kevin?" about pushed me over the edge. I was yelling at my screen "IT'S AMBER YOU TWIT!!!"

And then when Cane was looking at her today all I could think was that I pray to God that he doesn't start flirting with her and "how can he not realize it's Amber?!?!?!" I was so relieved when he went over and pulled the wig off.

I knew I liked him!

I hate when a character is developed really well, and you get to know them and how they operate, and then suddenly they do something that makes no sense! The example I'm thinking of right now is Kevin and Gloria. I think Kevin, the former internet perv/arsonist/attempted murderer was really well-redeemed through the whole storyline with his father. I have not thought of him the same way since. I now think he has some of the best, funniest lines on the show. I can even understand his desperation for a relationship and forgive the fact that he's so in love with Jana!? What I CANNOT understand is how Kevin and Gloria could be openly discussing their poisoning scheme and even opening the bottle and sniffing it in the Jabot conference room. It has been well-established that surveillance cameras/recording devices are in use in that building. Kevin and Gloria were actually seen watching it on a laptop once in Michael's apartment. I know there was some dumb scene with Katherine saying she put a stop to it, after Jill and Ji Min had sex there, but wouldn't Kevin be too clever to take the chance??
It is so stupid, especially for a character that is supposed to be hovering between evil genius and good guy.

Not to quibble with Y&R's "realism" -- but when does poor, nauseous, cancer-ridden Hope have time to bake in tanning bed? That orange glow is seriously distracting from the death-bed poignancy.

Has Guza been moonlighting on Y&R? Hubby doesn't want her to return to work "too soon" (subtext: ever) but rather, stay home with the baby? Maybe he pals with Jax over on GH who wants wifey to face a serial killer "armed with a milk bottle and baby girl."

What did poor Daniel do to his hair?

Seriously, kazou. Hope's blonde hair, overtan and collagen are freaking me out a little bit.

And Daniel's hair is awwwwful. Between this and the lingering issues I have with the porn storyline, I am never going to find Michael Graziadei dreamy ever again.

Has Daniel ever had good hair? I'm still horrified when I remember the long, stringy mess he had when Cassie died? I think his la-*test*-('") hair is because of a movie role. He told SOD he might shave his head next.

I think Hope's looks must be Signy's own choices, but I still felt sad seeing her hideous colagen and how anorexic she is. She must go to Hunter Tylo's plastic surgeon.

I know this has already been hashed out, but as gorgeous as I think JT is and as much as I enjoy staring at him, I was thrown by the wedding to Vicky. Why did she act like she had never been married before? JT was the man she dreamed of marrying?

I didn't really notice Signy looked much different. I just assumed the "anorexic" look was due to make up and lighting because after all, she was dying of cancer, so she'd hardly look healthy at this point.

On another note, I caught some of the show the other day and I had to laugh at how Victoria was anxious to get back to work. She said something like, "I have enjoyed my time with the baby but...blahblah daddy needs me." and I thought, "What? One whole week with the kid and you're ready to hand her over to the nanny?"

I must say, Sharon has finally changed her weave/hairstyle and it looks pretty. The curly look suits her so much better. About dang time!

I'd love to know how Cane suddenly got involved with the FASHION end of the business. He was supposed to be in construction.

I just laughed and laughed on Monday's episode when Kay asked Esther why she was wearing her maid's uniform again, and when they had that big closeup of the headline about Genoa City's crime rate being the lowest in 35 years.

I don't think LML was quite as amused.

I'm sorry but I really like Amber and Daniel as a couple. I didn't realize it until they showed scenes from tomorrow's episode where Amber and Daniel start to make up (again) and then Adrian comes knocking at the door looking for Amber! Much to my amazement, I said "Nooooooooooo!" when I saw that.

I am surprised to say, they have won me over.
