Go!

Anyone else get annoyed with the fact that they fill up airtime with their attempts at "humor" (i.e. yesterday's roadtrip with Diane and Alexis) while neglecting Patrick and Robin (who I, for one, would LOVE to see more of)?

I am wondering if KMc and JT might have pissed off the writers or something. It's ridiculous not to put them onscreen when they're a clear fan favorite (as evidenced by the focus group I was a part of).

Very frustrating.

Janaynay - OMG, if you're talking about one of the "infamous" focus groups that we soap lovers so de-*test*-('"), you MUST spill whatever you can. How are you selected, what are you shown, what are you asked, are you given any history of the show? Inquiring minds need to know because I will for all times be pissed off by Frons' assertion that Dan Gauthier was axed from OLTL as (IMO) the best Kevin Buchanan because "focus groups" didn't like his character (I call BULLSHIT on that!).

Also, I very much like the Robin and Patrick s/l (or I would if Guza and Korte kept their sticky little fingers out of it) as I think KMc and JT have amazing chemistry and can generally act the hell out of anything the poo flingers throw at them. As much as I enjoy Robin and Patrick, I still want them to run, not walk away from this show.

this show is truly horrific. i can't tune in any longer. i've moved on to one life to live which, while boring at times, is far less offensive to me than this bull they call general hospital.

As much as I dislike any of this Carly-Jason-Sam-Lucky-Elizabeth nonsense, I have to admit I snickered a little when Jason pointed out to Carly that Michael is a bloodthirsty sociopath (those are my words, as if he would ever say that) and that was good enough to keep Jake's true paternity quiet.

Of course, he then lost it when he didn't put his foot down when Carly insisted she would do something about claiming Jake. As if it's her business. Doesn't she have children to supervise? Fertilization options to seek? Sonny's life in which to meddle?

I just need Carly to Shut. Up. so very very hard right now. Gah.

The Diane/Alexis scene today was terrific. It was so nice to see two mature women having a sensible and serious conversation! The way that Carolyn Hennessy dialed it back today was really great.

Even though they were discussing the men in their lives, it was nice to see the discussion wasn't really about the men so much as why Alexis and Diane are the way they are, why they involve certain men in their lives, and how they interact with these men.
For me the scene had a kind of gentleness about it which I appreciated, and it was nice to see them interacting other than as battling lawyers, it made me appreciate both characters more.

I did enjoy Day 3 of the Alexis/Diane adventure, I must admit. I think it's because they were kind of enjoying each other's company. The two of them being buddies would make for great television. Of course, TIIC will probably ruin that too.

About my focus group...it was quite some time ago, actually back when Emily and Sonny were together (YUCK! That storyline was just ICKY!) And they kept trying to ask us questions about those 2 but we all kept steering the conversation to how much we enjoyed Patrick and Robin.

They also asked us what we thought of Laura Wright as Carly, and most of us had a positive response. That was when she was fairly new, though, and I'm not sure the reaction would be the same given the crap she's had to work with lately. I feel, even with the inane trainwreck sweeps thing, that the writing was better last year.

Then they made us rate our reactions to some radio spots. Basically most of us said we thought they were dumb and insulted our intelligence.

I was selected because I signed up with a Focus Group company. it was sheer luck that I was able to go to one for GH. I was utterly elated to give everyone a piece of my mind. Everyone there was a GH watcher, so no history of the show was given. Most of us had been watching since Brenda and Sonny's heyday, if not before. Myself? I started watching when Jason, Jagger, Karen, and Brenda got stranded on a deserted island. Ha!

I kind of miss those R & R things that they used to show on Soapnet where they aired a few old episodes of GH--mainly the good ol' days where everyone ended up at Luke's club. But now, apparently, they think we really like watching crappy Lifetime movies instead.

On a slightly different note, is Liz (I REFUSE to call her Elizabeth because it supposed to be Luke and Laura and Liz and Lucky) becoming Carly #2 for anyone? I actually hate her. She makes me root for Sam in scenes. And I was not a Sam fan back in the beginning when she was sleeping with Jax/Sonny. Liz's scene with Sam the other day sealed the deal for me. She came off as caring way more about Lucky finding out about what Sam did than she did about Sam actually watching her child be kidnapped.

I majorly dislike Liz, because whilst Sam has done far worse things than she has, most people treat Liz like the virgin Madonna and treat Sam like a leper. I prefer Sam because she does get fallout for what she's done, whereas Liz does not get called on her crap apart from by the shows "bitches".
I can't even root for Liz's hair at the moment.

What I wouldn't give to be able to sit in a room and go off on GH!

You know, I watched today's show (1/11/08) a couple of times today, because I had this weird sensation. I then realized that I thought that big chunks of the show were.... good.

What do I do with that????

I'm so with you. I've been trying to work on a blog entry all night about this week's GH, and I'm shocked that I liked ... a lot of it. I'm not sure how to feel anymore, LOL!

Somebody wrote it on TWOP, but I totally agree to their opinion that characters (apart from Jason) are no long being treated preferentially because the scabs don't have favourites, and so there's less propping and trashing and people are acting as they should. Therefore it actually seems to be good soap - colour me surprised!
