Maybe unpopular opinion but I think I like Nik and Nadine too. She actually makes TC less robot like and he smiles a lot with her.

I don't know about anyone else but that's definitely not unpopular with me. I've loved Nadine since she asserted herself in my "Awesome Hall of Fame" by throwing train tracks at Tumor!Emily and, just generally, splashing some common sense around Nikolas during that entire storyline.

As long as the writer's keep Nadine in her quirky element (rather than the sappy princess to Nik's prince charming a la Nik and Em), I will root for her and Nikolas.

juniemoonie- 10-02-2008
I agree! I think she makes him much more likeable and not in the boring, sappy way that Em did. I'm not thrilled they got rid of two Quartermaines in the same year and then killed Georgie, but Nadine is pretty hilarious and I just can't help but like her.

The problem, as always, is Guza. The show in the 80's and 90's allowed for a diverse cast. New people could enter the canvas and not at the expense of legacy characters. I.e. You look at how a character like Lucy Coe was able to enter the scene without them killing off freaking Monica Quartermaine. It always comes back to the hack and his inability to integrate the cast and weave storylines.

Then again it was a lot easier when the cast was mainly doctors, nurses, cops, or business owners because they were allowed to get together at parties and weddings without someone leaving with a bullet wound. Ah, the good old days.

I guess that's why I like the characters that are out of that realm.

End babble...

I know she's an airhog and all...but if Olivia continues to rightly blame Sonny for Kate's shooting no matter who's in ear shot....I just may come around to liking her. (But yes I know the second she spends any time with him...its back to OMGDIMPLES!!! land for her)

And I am starting to wonder WTF Becky Herbst did to Guza to deserve the scripts she's been getting lately. I mean really? Liz really just basically went "yeah Kate was shot and all but hey lets just reschedule and go to Italy??????????" Two days of basically talking to no one but extras? And i'm not even going to touch the genius <Rolling my eyes> that was the planning of the Italy trip. (Jason the multi-millonaire doesn't have a private plane? How does he get to the Island? Is he very eco-concious and I wasn't told by a herald of angels?) ABout the only thing I appreciated was her actually telling Lucky the truth about the situation instead of another six months of "Just lie to Lucky because well he's Lucky."

I don't mind Nik/Nadine so much as I have deep seeded Nik issues. But I agree that she does not need to be turned into the Emily clone for this to be the next great relationship of Nik's life.

Definitely. I think the worst thing about the mob is how it polarizes the cast. It's not logical to have large soapy get togethers when the main characters are thugs/harpies and the rest of the PC population would have nothing to do with them. Just think about the ridiculousness it took to get Jason, Carly and Jax to attend Sonny and Kate's wedding. They really had no reason to go, but because it was supposed to be the event of the century (*rolls eyes*) Guza had to create contrived scenarios to make it happen. If the hospital were the center of the show (and I know that's a lot to ask especially considering that it's called General HOSPITAL) this wouldn't be an issue.

I have always loved Liz. I've loved her pretty skin and her shiny hair. But this has got to stop. She knows what Jason's world is like. She's had several opportunities to see it first hand. Being around him is a danger to her children as well as herself (and despite what this awful show suggests, he is a danger to society). He has said over and over that they can't be together for that exact reason. And yet, she continues to degrade herself by throwing herself at him every chance she gets? This is not the Liz I loved.

Come on, you know that Guza thinks this is the most romantic dialogue he's written for her. A woman willing to risk everything for the man she loves. BARF. I agree with KLe, this is not the Liz that I loved years ago. Guza has once again shown how decimating beloved, strong characters is his life's mission. Argh I hate that man.

AdamPascalFan- 10-02-2008
The sad thing Junie is I know you are right and he totally thinks this IS the most wonderful romance ever committed on soaps. How do I know...why he has the mags tell us this all the time. Early on in the story I was snickering when I figured out everything was just repeats of every other Jason romance we've ever seen happen. And now I just want to break the fourth wall and go...."In April you were sooo much smarter than this! In April you got it! You really got it! You broke it off with him and you didn't stalk him like a deranged harpy! We started to like you again! People could say you were a good mom with a straight face again! There was speculation of a Liz/Lucky/Sam triangle with soapily awesome potential! WHY DID YOU DRINK THE KOOL AID?????????? Just stop!!! Please for the love of God! This is the same exact speech you got in April. And May. And every month prior to the three second engagement. He's the mob boss! BOSS. And since he's the reason your son has a target on his back because HE'S the one who told half the town..you should be so far away from him and begging Lucky to help you fake another paternity -*test*-('")." (which ps...so wouldn't be opposed to at all.)

This revelation came pretty early for me as well. My favorite part is the recycled dialogue. Especially, this one which I know for a fact started with Robin because when I heard Liz say this, I had just watched an old episode where Robin said it:

Jason's Girl of the Moment: Thank you.

Jason: I didn't do anything.

Girl of Moment: You always say that, but it's never true.

Shameless hacking hackiness. The only way I want Liz with Jason is if he mans up and leaves the mob. Of course it will never happen as long as Guza breathes his dragon breath all over this once awesome soap.

AdamPascalFan- 10-02-2008
I think my favorite line of hackish dialogue came during Jason's murder "trial" for the death of Alcazar...

Liz: Jason be selfish for once.

I was rolling on the ground with tears in my eyes after that one. For once? How about for always?

And I agree with you junie...if they are so danged determined to go Jason/Liz...then Jason needs to leave the mob. But yeah that's not going to happen so we'll have to suffer watching this once independent and intelligent character become dumb....evidenced by her recent declaration that she should act more like Carly.

The last person to make that choice was Lulu...and look what happened there.

Are you serious? How did I miss this? And Liz said this to Jason? Because that is most certainly a well known snippet of a conversation he had with Robin. If I wasn't so lazy, I would look for it on YouTube and ... do nothing. Except work myself into a tizzy over Guza's lack of imagination. It's just not worth the effort.

juniemoonie- 10-02-2008
I am certain I have heard Liz say this. I am almost one hundred percent that she said that to him when they were trapped in the elevator together during the hostage crisis. I will look on Youtube and see if I can find it.

Guza is ridiculous.

AdamPascalFan- 10-02-2008
I'm also fairly certain Sam said it as well........but I tend to ignore him when he pops up and make up own dialogue for his scenes thanks to my friend the mute button so you know...I could be so wrong. I very well could have been drunk and imagined it.

But yes Junie I too have vague recollections of Liz saying something at least eeriely similar if not word for word to that quote you had.

juniemoonie- 10-10-2008
I swear it's like Guza heard people saying they were even considering liking the character of Nadine so he went out of his way to make her an even worse cartoon version of Spinelli.

I originally found her sense of humor charming when she was a smart, common sense speaking nurse (largely responsible for ridding us of the gleeful tumor), then she went insane and is turning into some laughable Cassadine stalker. This show makes me want to scream.

KLe- 10-11-2008
I know! [/Monica Gellar]

I'm with you junie. I swear Guza is out to destroy everything I even remotely like about this show. Lately, it been the mobification of Maxie Jones and turning Nadine into an insipid stalking stalker who stalks. And one that does so while making NO DAMN SENSE!

At least the back and forth marriage proprosals between Patrick and Robin have ended. But God knows what their next endless conversation will be about.

At this point, I tune in for Ric and Claudia. Their love scene was ... just ... damn. It was the hotness. Phew. Then again, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Guza takes that from me too.

AdamPascalFan- 10-12-2008
Yeah just wait until he finds out people like Ric/Claudia better than Sonny/Claudia...then POW...out the window it goes.

And KLe, Junie....I've been convinced for YEARS now that Guza just trolls the internet annoymously, sees what people are liking and going "wait...i can't put Jason or Sonny all up in that....to the crapper it goes."

juniemoonie- 10-12-2008
Oh totally, Beth. He has had it in for the character of Ric since day one. He never let's the true awesomness of RH shine through because Guza knows the he's ten times hotter and a much better actor than MB has been in YEARS. I won't hold my breath for a Ric redemption arc (if they even exist on OG GH anymore) or a true love story for him anytime soon.

As always Guza is evil.
